Lateness...

I know I have not posted in a while....well my computer was infested with a nasty virus. So I have not really been able to do much of anything! Doing my homework for my web design class has been the biggest booger.

Well we do have some wedding news. We went for our tasting at Mel's in Tomball last Sunday and the food was amazing. We knew it would be, but man it was good. They were very nice and accommodating! So we have our food picked and I am very excited about that. We will have the best tasting wedding...I am sorry I didn't' take any photos.

Our travelers meeting went well and we will be taken care of! So that is a relief.

Our wedding room is starting to become more full, I am starting to become a little overwhelmed with all the details in my head. I am so scared I am going to lose them. Then I forget where I did write them down. I am slowly becoming more organized.

My other big excitement is I bought our tickets to go see Twilight on Midnight the 20th!! I am so excited! I love this series, and it is sad cause I am as obsessed as all the little teenie boppers out there about the story. I could care less for the actor playing the vampire role.

I hope to get my STD figured out soon and the guest list done so we can start sending out some stationery! Also by that time I should have a wedding website up...yeah!

Meeting with Travelers

Treasure your relationships, not your possessions.
— Anthony J. D'Angelo

I love quotes, and I am on a couple of those email lists that send out quotes daily. The one I got today was from Anthony J. D'Angelo and I think it is a very good reminder.

Today, Ryan and I are meeting with the insurance company about the Tuscany and our claim. They are working on building their case against them and then they will settle with us (hopefully). But I felt this was a good quote to remind us the reason why we are getting married in the first place and that does not change even though there are some rotten crooks out there.

dinning room table is full

I came home yesterday to a dinning room table full of our centerpieces. They all look awesome! They just need the candle tops and to be painted! Right now there are 5 complete, but Ryan will be making 10 total. He also used the design idea to come up with the stand we will use for the unity sand. I just need to pick out the glass we will use.

My folks are going to come out to La Tranquila this weekend. I am excited for them to see it and I am going to try to take some better photos. Sorry no photo's this post. There has not been much action on my part the past couple weeks with wedding things. I am working on some stationery designs and trying to get my "will you be my bridesmaid?" buckets together. I hope to get those together and out by Thanksgiving. I will post photos after I have given them out...not sure how often my girls are checking this (and yes they already know who they are, I just wanted to do something fun). :)

Look at what I saw when I got home...

I come home on a typical Tuesday afternoon, excited cause I get to pick up my truck from the body shop. My little red truck was hit on the side when a driver tried to avoid limbs on the road that Ike left behind.

Well I come in my front door, and this is what I see on my dining room table... our centerpieces

Ryan had planned on making our centerpieces (or atleast half of them) and we discussed him making a mock up sometime in the next couple months...well he felt inspired and made this. When we are done with them they will be black and have some kind of additional piece in the center. I am so excited. Like I said yesterday I am so happy to be marrying a talented fabricator!!

Gathering supplies

It has begun...the gathering of supplies. My future mother in law found these fun lanterns from Wal-mart that are perfect for the rustic type setting I want to create. About 5 people have been on the look out and I think we have gathered enough up to do something with. The great thing about Wal-mart, if we don't end up wanting to use them...they will take them back!

Ryan and I went to Wal-mart the other night to pick up some candle circles. Ryan is going to build our center pieces (I love that I am marrying a very talented fabricator!!) and he needed a base for a candle to sit on. So we picked up a few of those for him to try out and I found an aisle runner. Wal-mart is now picking up on the wedding biz. I have seen the aisle in Target, but Wal-mart now has a couple rows and they even had some Martha Stewart products. Many items are just not helpful to us, but I was excited to see the aisle runner that I plan on customizing.

We are going to have a pretty diy wedding and I couldn't be happier about it. We are very blessed to be lead to La Tranquila Ranch for our wedding. We will be able to have a very personal event and we are very excited.

As we get some of the diy projects done, I will post them on here with pictures. I will be excited to show them off before next year anyway.

We have a new location and a new DATE!!

Well, much to my surprise we have found our new wedding location. This task was what I was most stressed about when it came to any single part of wedding planning. Most of you are probably saying "picking a location? why not figuring out the money?" Well, you see that is the biggest question when it comes to the location. I am picky, and I wanted a certain style. When we found the Tuscany it was rustic enough for my taste and had so many amazing details that I was really looking forward to. So when we lost it, the idea of having to go through all of that looking again to find a place that just couldn't compare. Well I am happy to say that I feel that we found something even better. We were obviously not suppose to be married at the Tuscany, but I really didn't think we would find the perfect place so soon. Ok, enough babble from me...

We will be getting married on October 3rd, 2009 at the La Tranquila Ranch in Tomball, Texas!!

We moved it to October cause at this location we will be having an outdoor ceremony and we wanted to move the event further along past hurricane season, and the weather is just more cooperative in Houston at this time of year. We are so excited and we have so many ideas. At this point I cannot say enough good things about this location and our coordinator there. She has been very flexible with us, and understanding. I called her today to make sure we have the date secured and take care of part of the deposit and she was telling me how she already told a caller yesterday that October 3rd is taken, she did this with just my word that I would be calling her back with the down payment this week. I was touched by this and I feel we will have a much more enjoyable experience at La Tranquila Ranch.

Tuscany = Devil

Ryan and I were scheduled to be married on September 6th, 2009 at the Tuscany in Garden Oaks. We were very excited cause we loved the overall look of the facility and we were able to book it at a "reasonable" price. Houston is a hard place to find an affordable wedding facility. They all have minimums, and the Saturday price is always at least 3 times as high. So we were excited we could have a "cheaper" Sunday wedding on Labor day weekend.
Here is a look at the facility...

Ball room for reception
This locaiton also has a beautiful bridal dressing room and even a sitting area for the room and his groomsmen. I loved all these touches, and could picture our day here.
As some of you already know, The Tuscany aka The Chef's Table has gone out of business. There have been rumors floating around as to why, and I am sure Ike didn't help the situation. But it has become apparent that this business was having money problems already. Ryan and I took the "payment in full" special as did many others, so we are out a good chunk of change. But we have boo hoo'd and have decided to move on and start over. We will of course be working on getting our money back, but we realize it may not be anytime soon. So we will start over, with a smaller budget, but we have high hopes for our special day.

We shall begin

After seeing a few of these online I thought that this would be a good way to keep in contact with those who are interested in keeping up with how things are going with the wedding planning and such. So here we go, and I am new at blogging so I will be learning as we go along.
